I wanted to let everyone know about a company that can produce prototype tooling for plastic injection molding. The tooling is generally extremely cheap and made from aluminum instead of steel. The trade off is more expensive piece parts. You could expect to get 1000+ glass filled nylon parts off the tool before it started to significantly wear. If you were shooting a non glass filled parts you could reasonably see many more parts. Once solid computer models are off to these guys you will see parts within a week or two. Check them out at www.protomold.com. Alternatively if you want to prototype a plastic part without the cost of the tooling, you can machine the parts...check out www.firstcut.com.
